PHILADELPHIA, PA — June, 2006 — The Greater Philadelphia Venture Group (MAC Alliance) today announced that Tom Balderston, President, Balderston Capital, will join the MAC Alliance staff as President and CEO. Balderston brings over 20 years experience in the venture community as a general partner, limited partner and angel investor. Additionally, Balderston has been a long-time supporter of the MAC Alliance and served as Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Fair in 1996.

Earlier this year the GPVG announced its expanded vision and mission and more recently announced its new name, Mid-Atlantic Capital (MAC) Alliance, which will go into effect this Fall.

"2006 has been a transition year for the MAC Alliance — one filled with positive and lasting changes, including our embracing a broader mission and constituency," said Mike DiPiano, Chairman of the Board for MAC Alliance. "Tom's experience and strong venture background are exciting new elements which will be brought to bear on behalf of our membership."

"I am very excited to have this opportunity to lead the MAC Alliance and proud to be a part of the team as we pursue greater outreach and support of entrepreneurs along with the growth of the capital resources at all levels in the region," said Tom Balderston, President and CEO, MAC Alliance.

Prior to forming Balderston Capital in 2001 Balderston was President of SGI Capital, the private equity investment unit of Superior Group, a family-owned holding company. Balderston also worked with TDH Group from 1985-1998 where he was a General Partner of its TDH III, L.P. venture fund and Co-founder of its management company.

"We have a tremendously strong foundation to build upon and I am confident in Tom's ability to meet the myriad of opportunities ahead," said Barbara Dalton, incoming Chairman of the Board for MAC Alliance. "The MAC Alliance has always been a tremendous force in the venture community and I am confident that our expanded role and Tom's leadership will help further the region's growth."

Balderston holds an M.B.A. from the UCLA Graduate School of Management and a B.A. from Williams College. He has served on numerous private company Boards and fund advisory committees and is active in the community. Currently, he serves as a Board Member of the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Southeastern PA as Chair of the Finance Committee, Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee. Balderston is also Vice Chair of the Board of the Shipley School and a member of the Finance Committee.
