Announcement includes... Ten directors and an addition to the executive committee to drive the expanded mission.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 18, 2006 – The Greater Philadelphia Venture Group (GPVG) – the catalyst organization promoting the Greater Philadelphia region as one of North America’s top private equity markets – today announced a new Executive Committee member and ten additional Directors to its board.
Earlier this year, the GPVG announced its expanded vision and mission and more recently announced its new name, Mid-Atlantic Capital (MAC) Alliance, which will go into effect this fall. Changing the organization to a capital alliance reflects the fact that its members deal with a wider range of private equity than just venture capital, and will therefore require an expanded and strategic board.
“This has been a transitional year for the GPVG, and we are embracing change and progress,” said Tom Balderston, President & CEO of the GPVG. “We have a strong and creative board and we are adding a terrific group of new directors who have unique skills and relationships which will help in our effort to pull the capital community together.”
The newest member of the Executive Committee is Robert Blumenthal. Blumenthal is a Senior Client Partner at Korn/Ferry International. As a member of the executive committee, Blumenthal will work with the board in their efforts to increase awareness of the Mid-Atlantic region, attend GPVG events and meetings and Chair the Mid-Atlantic Venture Conference.
There are also ten Directors joining the GPVG. As Directors, they are responsible for helping to increase awareness of the mission and vision of MAC alliance both in and outside the region.
The new Directors are:
Andrea Allon, Chief Administrative Officer, Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce
Walter Buckley III, co-Founder and CEO, Internet Capital Group
Roger Carolin, Venture Partner, SCP Partners
John Loftus, Executive Vice President and Managing Partner, Information Technology, Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.
Daniel McKinney, General Partner, NextStage Capital, LP
Dean Miller, Partner, PA Early Stage
Christopher Pavlides, Executive Director, Temple University, Fox School of Business & Management
RoseAnn Rosenthal, President & CEO, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania
